The Lancet Commission have published a paper “Implementation of the Lancet Standing Commission on Liver Disease in the UK”, which is a follow-up report to the 2014 Lancet Commission Report into Liver Disease in the UK. NICE Recommends Technology for Diagnosing Liver Damage: Putting the Guidance into Practice

The NICE guidance on Virtual Touch Quantification (or VTq) supports the use of the technology in people with chronic Hepatitis B or C who need a liver fibrosis assessment. Using this technology could mean these patients can avoid having a biopsy.

Dame Sheila Sherlock Travelling Fellowships in Hepatology

The 2016 award is now open and applications are being accepted. This award is aimed at trainees and consultants wishing to gain research experience in Hepatology.
Their purpose is to offer the opportunity to learn new techniques and acquire new experiences, ideas and stimulation by travel and exchange of ideas.
Two travelling fellowships are available covering a period of one month each and will be offered to one consultant and one specialist registrar. Each fellowship will be for a maximum of £2,000.
