Join the April Gym Challenge
Our April Gym Challenge is here! Following the theme for International Women's Day last month, the challenge focuses on the importance of balance.
Get involved and you could win a free 1 month membership! You must complete the workout to enter the competition and can enter more than once.
Balance is key in our everyday life, whether you're going for a walk, standing up or tieing your shoelace. As we age it's important we maintain good balance by training, otherwise we'll lose it.
Balance training involves slow and methodical movements that strengthen your core, legs, glutes and back to keep you upright and stable and keep you looking toned.
The challenge includes 4 exercises of varied intensity levels. You can choose a level that suits you, or work your way up the levels.
Visit our website to find out more or ask our friendly gym staff for assistance.
Don't miss out on Golf Premier League 🏆
Register for our 2019 Golf Premier League at Burnley Golf Course from Sunday 28 April to Sunday 18 August.
You'll join a 6-person team to compete in an extremely flexible weekly round-robin. You can play any time during opening hours each week, with just one other team member as your witness, or as a full team - whatever suits your schedule.
If your first round isn't up to par, play again that week and your top score will count. You'll just need to pay $5 each game. The best 3 of your 6 team members' scores will contribute to your teams total score for that week.
All abilities and ages are welcome.
What is the cost?
A $25 registration fee will need to be paid at our Pro Shop before your first round. You will then pay $5 each round.
How do I register?

Keeping up with the Carbashians
There have been mixed messages over the years on carbohydrates and their effect on our weight and health. One of the most famous fad diets of the past few decades is the Atkins diet, which encouraged people to ditch the carbs for foods high in protein and fats, but this produced mixed results. The diet faded away into our memories, and people started enjoying their carbs again. Now people are asking the question again; should we cut out carbs altogether or are they an important part of a balanced diet?
Les Mills takes a look at carbohydrates in this article and provides research based analysis on whether we should keep up the carbs or put them on the backburner.
