This year our open day and sale moves to a new venue – the Sunbird Aloes Wholesale Nursery on the corner of Hyperion Road and Bellairs Drive (entrance in Hyperion through the Fuchsia and Azalea nursery), North Riding, Randburg. The date is Saturday, June 14 and we will be open from 09:00 to 16:00. EFT payment facilities will be available, but cash payments remain the quickest, easiest and most reliable.

1. Apart from many new releases and old favourites that will be on display, look out for the exclusive Aloe Terrariums: AloeVaz exhibition near the pay point.

2. The plants that are on sale will be arranged alphabetically in the Sale Area. This year, we have selected the plants according to the eventual size of the aloe. Only large and medium sized bags (those grown onsite) will be at the sale. These plants will grow to be large or medium sized aloes.

3. The small aloe sale will take place at Gariep Plants in Pretoria and at Witkoppen Wildflower Nursery’s new home, a short distance from Sunbird Aloes Wholesale Nursery down Bellairs Drive in North Riding.

For a modest entrance fee (which will be given to charity), visitors have the opportunity of entering the Sunbird Aloes Wholesale nursery on the 14th of June and walking amongst hundreds of open ground aloe hybrids in full flower. Although these plants will not be available on the day (due to logistical problems) most of them are for sale. To assist clients who are looking for only a few plants, we will waive the standard 10 plant minimum order from the wholesale nursery for the work week following the Open Day, including Youth Day on 16 June. The innovation was birthed from a request by  a customer who desired an Aloe in a glass container to keep on his patio. After investigating the business concept and research concerning the optimal kind of glass containers AloeVaz was born.

Small, Medium and Large AloeVaz terrariums will be on display on the 14th June at the Sunbird Aloes Open Day. An AloeVaz can be ordered for collection at a later date.

By the kind permission of the owner, Kevin, we have the use of the Fuschia and Azalea Nursery grounds, and he will have some of his own plants for sale in the area closest to Hyperion Road on 14 June. Kevin’s selection of companion plants (like ground covers) is lovely! The Fuchsia and Azalea Nursery is open every week on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
