Help Us Get the Word Out about The FriendShipThe FriendShip is always looking for opportunities to recruit new members and volunteers and share information about how we help older adults in our community. One of our members recently shared information about us with a friend, and that led to The FriendShip being invited to give a presentation at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church in January. Similar outreach efforts have resulted in other upcoming presentations at Shandon United Methodist Church, a local rotary club, and The Shepherd Center. You can help us spread the word--check your Rolodex for us! Volunteer Committee UpdatesThe FriendShip's Volunteer Committee is planning the next Volunteer Get-Together for Sunday, April 26 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The gathering will include time to socialize as well as discussion of "assisting members with mobility issues." More details are forthcoming! The FriendShip is in need of more volunteers! Spread the word about this fun and meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of older adults in our community. Also, the Volunteer Committee is seeking new committee members and a chair/co-chair. Since this committee helps train new volunteers and works to build community among current ones, it is a fun opportunity to make a positive impact on The FriendShip and meet a lot of wonderful people! If interested, please email Janet Jordan, the current chair. Office Closures AnnouncementPlease note that The FriendShip office will close at noon on Friday, April 10 and will be closed on Monday, April 13. We'll back for regular business hours (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) on Tuesday, April 14! Reminder for Members & Volunteers about Privacy ConcernsPlease be mindful of privacy issues during services. It is best to refrain from asking questions about private matters, such as the nature of appointments or medical conditions. (It may happen that the person you are with shares this kind of information, and that is certainly fine if he or she chooses to do so. But, please be aware that some people may not wish to do so.) In addition, personal information should not be shared with others after a service, except in the case of a safety concern. Memorial TributeBonnie March, a much admired member of The FriendShip network, passed away on February 21. Bonnie was fun and easy to be with; she will be greatly missed by The FriendShip, her family, and friends. She inspired us with her independent spirit, caring nature, love of animals, and constant interest in staying active and trying new things. |
