COMMITTEE CORNER

Clubhouse Redevelopment
Funding of approximately $4M for the redevelopment of the Club has been approved. This will include the redevelopment of the clubhouse, entrance for the Club and upgrading of the surrounding areas. The Council has now released the Request for Tender for the Clubhouse Redevelopment.

Strategic Plan
The Club’s strategic plan is up for renewal. The process to develop the plan for the 3 years to end 2024 will include several forms of consultation with Club members. The first opportunity to have your say will be on Sunday 28 November, during the ‘Welcome Back to Tennis’ afternoon. Input into the future of the club, reconnect with old friends and make some new connections over a hit from 2:30pm, and drinks and nibbles from 4:00pm.

If you are not able to join us then but still have some thoughts you would be willing to share, we’d love to hear from you. We will be putting together a member survey later in the year/early next year; but in the meantime, please feel free to shoot ideas and feedback via feedback@eastmalverntc.com.au

Changes around the Club
You may have noticed the beautiful landscaping work completed by Robin, Lindsay and family. The hard work is paying off with beautiful flowers welcoming us back to the club - especially around courts 7-10.

Thanks to Rohan, Sarah and Tony for their hard work in obtaining the grant for the shade sail which will be completed shortly. Thanks to Rohan for liaising with the contractor for the installation. This area will afford spectators some cover from the elements. In coming months seating will be erected below the sail. (Thanks to Sarah for working to source both the seats and the grant to cover them - fingers crossed we also receive a grant to cover this cost.)

Pool Update
Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey regarding our Pool. We received 73 responses, most of which were in favour of keeping the pool as part of the Club, if possible. We are collating the responses and will use this to support our submission regarding the retention of the pool to Council.  Detailed results will be on display at the ’Welcome Back to Tennis’ afternoon. The pool is currently closed per Council direction. We have received an audit report identifying a large number of issues which need rectification before Stonnington Council will consider reopening.
