The ADA welcomes new associate member Virtu Design Institute.

BDA has now transformed into a truly national, member-based association, without the constraints and limitations that come with federated state-based structures. 



Universal Design Conference

Universal design is a world-wide movement that aims to create environments that are useable, accessible, safe and convenient for the entire community.

Designing universally increases the inclusion of people with disability, older people, children and their parents. This concept is increasingly evident in Australian policy and planning documents across all levels of government.

Held in Sydney on 20-21 August, the conference will focus on the built environment, which includes, housing, public buildings, transport, and open spaces. 


Design Innovation - Making Value, Not Just Things

AGDA 2014 Design Awards Open For Entries

The AGDA 2014 Australian Design Biennale Awards are open for Entries.

Since 1992, the AGDA Design Awards have been Australia’s barometer for creative excellence. The awards have grown inexorably across the event’s twenty year history, much like the organisation itself.

This year the awards have been given a thorough shakeup, to be more relevant to how we work in today’s environment.

Staging Ideas: set and costume design for theatre

ADA member organisation the Australian Production Design Guild has news this month of a new book Staging Ideas: set and costume design for theatre, written by Stephen Curtis and published by Currency Press.

The book contains the work of nearly 30 of Australia’s leading costume and set designers and includes never-seen-before concept development roughs and sketch designs – through which we can actually see how staging ideas take shape.
