Therapeutics Education Collaboration Nuggets

The following are a few of the websites referred to at the recent Therapeutics Education Collaboration session held in Salmon Arm.  You may find them interesting and useful.

Rural Physician Research Grants

The Rural Physician Research Support Project is a new initiative which aims to empower rural physician researchers – or new aspiring researchers – to pursue innovative rural research and knowledge translation projects contributing to advancing rural health in BC. Through this project, rural physician researchers will be able to apply for research grants of up to $10,000 per year to support research activities. To be eligible, applicants must be a physician with experience practicing rural medicine and demonstrable extensive connections to rural communities. The research must be pertaining to health in rural BC.

To apply for this opportunity, please download the application forms from the Rural Coordination Centre of BC website and submit it to apeltonen@rccbc.ca. The deadline for the next round of submissions is May 31, 2018.

The Rural Physician Research Support Project is run by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC and supported by the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues. For more information about this opportunity contact Adrienne Peltonen at apeltonen@rccbc.ca . Visit www.rccbc.ca for more information about the Rural Coordination Centre of BC.

Meaningful medication reviews and seniors - seeking physician input

The Shared Care Polypharmacy Risk Reduction initiative is shifting its focus from residential and acute care and is now seeking input from family physicians on how to best support meaningful medication reviews within the PMH/PCN. Physicians who would like to learn more, or are willing to share their experiences of incorporating medication reviews into their practices for adults with complex medical conditions and frailty, contact Margaret English at menglish@doctorsofbc.ca.

Resources to support physicians to keep practices violence-free

Like employers around the province, physicians have a responsibility to ensure their workplaces are safe. For information and resources to support physicians running office-based practices to ensure practice and staff safety, click here.

Physician feedback requested to rate patient priorities

Primary care providers are asked to participate in a 5 to 10 minute online survey about patient priorities for future primary care research in BC. A team of patients identified ten top topics for primary health care research, and this survey allows for broader input from physicians who are asked to rate the importance of each topic. Hosted on the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Evaluation’s REDCap survey platform, responses will be anonymous and confidential.
