Year 10 Personal Project Exhibition
The annual opening of Year 10 Personal Project Exhibition will take place on Monday 31 July. The Exhibition opens at 7.00 pm in the View Street building, with galleries located on all three floors and some larger works on display in the McNeil Street Senior School building. The opening night runs until 8.30 pm.
There are no formal talks or presentations – students are expected to stand by their works for the duration of the evening and will be available should guests have any questions about their projects. A floor guide will be available for parents on the evening.
The opening night is on invitation from the students (Year 10 parents and family), however, the galleries will be open to the remainder of the PLC community from Tuesday 1 August to Friday 4 August.
The galleries will be on display for one week only. All projects must be down by the following Monday, 7 August. Tours of the galleries will be run for Year 9 parents across the week, together with a short information session on the new Year 9 Defining Project. More information on these workshops will come at the beginning of Term 3.
To facilitate preparation for the evening, PLC will be open on the following dates to parents and students needing additional time to set up their displays:
-
Sunday 23 July from 9.00 am - 4.00 pm (the same day as the Farm2Fork event hosted by our boarding community – a great chance to check this out as well)
-
Monday 24 July
-
Sunday 30 July
Students are also welcome to work on their displays throughout the first week of Term 3 (Tuesday 25 July - Friday 28 July).
Please direct any queries to Mr Chris Scholten, Chris.Scholten@plc.wa.edu.au. We hope that you can share in our celebration of learning for our dedicated Year 10 girls.

Year 7 students speak with Apollo XIII Astronaut Fred Haise
The Year 7s had a Skype video call with Fred Haise on Monday, who is the great uncle of Clare Johnston (Year 10). Fred told the girls about his unusual path to become an astronaut, his experiences in space during the infamous Apollo XIII mission and answered lots of questions from curious students.
He spoke about floating escapee water bags, the unusual issues with sleeping in space and the importance of finding out what your personal talent is and pursuing it.
