Northern Territory HealthPathwaysNorthern Territory HealthPathways is a locally developed clinical pathway website that aids the clinical team, particularly general practitioners (GPs), to help patients navigate complex local variation in referral pathways and management of conditions. Developed by local GPs and health services in collaboration with hospital specialists, the pathways walk a GP through clinical patient management with a reminder of the locally agreed best practice diagnosis and management skills for a condition, aligning and linking to Remote Primary Health Care Manuals where these exist. NT PHN invites NTGPE registrars and supervisors to access this great tool. Access cards can be provided on request. ntphn.org.au/healthpathways Feel free to direct any questions to NT HealthPathways Coordinator, Sheryn Hemley Sheryn.Hemley@ntphn.org.au or Clinical Lead, Dr Christine Lesnikowski Christine.Lesnikowski@ntphn.org.au . Women's health weekWomen’s Health Week runs from September 3-7 and is in its sixth year. Jean Hailes for Women’s Health identified that the two biggest barriers for women not maintaining a healthy lifestyle is ‘lack of time’ and ‘health not being a priority’. It’s time we put ourselves first (even if it is just for a week) and start making positive changes that can last a lifetime. Today, NTGPE medical educator Dr Pauline Cundill presented a lunch and learn to female staff, Spicks and specks and women’s health checks. The presentation covered the importance of women's health checks and information about cervical cancer and the changes to the screening process. In 2015, there were 230 deaths caused by cervical cancer in Australia. Cervical cancer death rates in Australia have halved since the National Cervical Screening Program began in 1991. https://www.cancer.org.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/cervical-cancer.html Dr Pauline Cundill after presenting 'Spicks and specks and women’s health checks' for women's health week Training CoursesRoyal Darwin Hospital Annual Respiratory & Sleep Workshop 2018The aim of this workshop is to provide the opportunity for participants to develop a sound knowledge base, skills and understanding in relation to the prevention, early detection, and management of respiratory conditions in the acute and community settings.
