There are many lovely opportunities to celebrate Hungarian traditions in December! This issue of our e-newsletter is packed with resources you can use to help your family start or maintain a connection to their Hungarian heritage! Our family has lived in the United States for over 100 years now but we are still very aware of our Hungarian roots. That may not be your story and that is ok! We have some sweet Christmas ornaments you can print, color, cut out and hang on the tree or use as gift tags! These are great for all ages and can be colored and mailed off to special person. Our Conversation Starters may be just the thing to get family members talking about the things they remember growing up in a Hungarian home. Both items are best printed on card stock. Mulled Wine - Forralt Bor We had a wonderful time in Hungary for the Christmas Market Tour earlier this month. We traveled with a fun group of people and enjoyed exploring several Christmas markets. One of my favorites was in a medieval castle in Austria. We also taste tested some wonderful mulled wine. Here is a great recipe for your next gathering! Let's Cook Hungarian Challenge Join the 2020 Let's Cook Hungarian Challenge and cook more Hungarian food next year!! You can qualify for one of the aprons pictured here by completing each challenge on time and letting me know you have done so. It's easy to sign up! Here are the details! January Recipe Hungarian tradition says it that if you eat lentils on January 1st, an abundance of money will accompany you in the New Year. So, we will start the New Year right with some Lentil Soup ~ Lencseleves! As you may have noticed, there are many recipes for every Hungarian dish and that is the same with Lentil Soup! You can add smoked meat (kolbász is very typical) or yours can be vegetarian. Here is a link to a recipe by Zsuzsa. She has some great recipes so be sure to bookmark her website! We will be working on both the Magyar Living and the Magyar Marketing websites in January so if you see some changes, don't panic! I am going to try not to panic either.
