This coming weekend is our Fall Inductions Weekend at Cherokee Scout Reservation. We need your help to make this Inductions weekend memorable to everyone involved. One way we need your help making it memorable is by being an elangomat. In the language of the Lenni Lenape, elangomat means “friend,” which is what an elangomat does. Elangomats are the friends who guide new candidates through their ordeal. There are many perks to being an elangomat, including:

  • A special red elangomat shirt

  • A unique patch, part of a larger 3-patch set

  • Making friends with the candidates in your clan

  • The respect of those in the lodge

Please come join us on October 4-6 at Cherokee Scout Reservation as an elangomat. The cost is $15 and registration is open online or on paper. And remember, “those who serves his fellows is, of all his fellows, greatest.”

In order to support our lodge’s annual program of service and fellowship, we hold an annual fundraiser of selling brunswick stew. Stew is $7.50 a quart and makes an excellent winter meal. Stew will be cooked and available for pickup at Fall Fellowship on the 8th-10th of November. While both youth and adults are encouraged to sell stew, there will be prizes for the top three sellers of stew as well as the chapter that sells the most stew.

If you are able, we also need help cookers and stirrers to help make the stew Thursday evening and Friday, November 7th and 8th. If you are able to help, sign up for a shift by contacting lodge70@lodge70.org or by paper at Fall Inductions.

Submit your orders for stew online by following the link below. All stew sales must be inputted by November 1st. Support our lodge’s program of cheerful service and fellowship by selling stew, the goo that’s good for you.

The National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) is the premier event of the Order of the Arrow. It is the Order of the Arrow’s equivalent to a jamboree. Over 7,000 Arrowmen from across the country are expected to participate in this 2020 event.

The event will be held on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. The dates of the event are August 3 to August 8, 2020. Our lodge is planning on taking 50 plus members to this event. We will go by bus, leaving on August 1 or 2 and returning on August 9. National is asking that each Lodge have one youth for each adult that attends. This 1:1 ratio should allow everyone who wants to attend to be able to attend.

The cost to attend NOAC depends on how many arrowmen from our lodge are able to attend but should be between $750 and $900 per person. In order to know how many arrowmen are interested in going, we are asking that you fill out an application with a $100 deposit as soon as  you can. Don’t miss this opportunity to make new friends and have the experience of a lifetime.

Fall Fellowship is an opportunity to celebrate our lodge’s accomplishments over the past year and to prepare for the coming year. As part of that celebration, Saturday is filled with fun activities. Following the activities, a banquet is held to recognize our lodge’s accomplishments and everyone who made them possible, including those who earned their First Year Arrowman Award.

Every year, Fall Fellowship is given a theme that guides Saturday’s activities. Our theme this year is Frontiersman. Activities include:

  • Three-Gun Competition

  • Tomahawk Throwing

  • Knife Throwing

  • American Indian Affairs Pow Wow- Drumming and Dancing

  • Brotherhood Conversion

  • Patch Auction

  • Dutch Oven Cooking Competition (Youth and Adult)

  • Dutch Oven Tasting (Yum!)

  • Patch Trading

Join us November 8-10 at Cherokee Scout Reservation as we celebrate all the lodge has accomplished this year. The cost of attending this fun event is $25, which includes 5 meals, cracker barrels, an event patch and a weekend of frontier fun.
