The time has passed so quickly, a sure sign that there has been a great deal going on. I have lost count of the amount of celebrations, graduation and awards events I have attended and participated in over the past few weeks. It has been a great joy to be a part of the celebration of the achievements of our students. In a culture where a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence is prized, it is equally important to celebrate effort, achievement and progress. My hope is that the end of the year has been an opportunity for our students to reflect on their progress with a view to setting strong goals for 2017. I want to take the opportunity to publicly thank every staff member in the school for the ceaseless dedication to our students. I thank them for their commitment, innovation, care and dedication to ongoing improvement in our wonderful school. I also want to thank our parent body for their support, enthusiasm and willingness to assist where they can. Whether it is attending parent evenings, doing classroom help or attending events, your input and willingness to partner with us is greatly appreciated. The first year for a new Principal is a key one. It is a time to look closely at what is in place, consolidate and strengthen that which is good, a time to identify potential and skill and a time to position the school for growth and positive direction. It has been an exciting year in this regard and we are well placed for 2017 to build on the strong foundations of the school. I must acknowledge the tremendous work done by the Executive Team across both Ellenbrook and Beechboro in this regard. They have been supportive, industrious and unwaveringly committed to excellence. I thank the teachers and support staff for their tremendous work across the year and I know that you join me in wishing them a time of rest and relaxation. Even at the conclusion of the school year, our students continue to have successes both inside and outside of their school activities. Shanae Power Bradley Gordon On Friday 25 November Bradley was also a guest at MWA's Night of Champions where he received his medallion for his 2nd place in last years State Titles. Many of our students had been sponsored per lap and they all worked very hard to achieve as many laps as they could. Well done to Kindergarten 1 who raised the most at $657.50 followed closely by Pre-Primary 2 at $613. The total amount raised for the day was $4067.20 Secondary School News From the Head of Secondary...Last week a communication was sent out to parents regarding the direction of the Secondary School for 2017 and beyond. Ellenbrook Christian College sent three Secondary teams. Each team entered into two challenges against over 40 teams from 17 other schools. The residents smiled, laughed and sang along with our students. Spreading the joy of the Christmas message was a wonderful experience for everyone. Melissa Argus Handbags for the Homeless Project On Thursday 1 December, three of our Year 10 students, Tahlia Kabelka, Tiah Lanciano and Rhiannon Reynolds met with Captain Margaret Colls, Chaplain, and Tina Hudson, Family and Domestic Violence Outreach worker, from the Salvation Army. Throughout the year, Tahlia, Tiah and Rhiannon have been promoting the Handbag Project as a small way of blessing these women in need. The handbags and toiletries, donated by the community of Ellenbrook Christian College, were given to the women who seek refuge at Graceville; a small gesture showing them that someone cares and hopefully helping them restore their dignity. Thank you to everyone who donated towards this very meaningful project.
