Merger Update

Premier Mike Baird says he will continue to pursue the state's council amalgamation agenda following the Nationals' disastrous showing in the Orange by-election on Saturday.

Strathfield Council continues to review its legal options in light of any new developments regarding amalgamation.

Council is in the final stages of developing an Active Transport Plan (ATP) which outlines the strategic routes that would best serve the needs of cyclists and pedestrians in Strathfield. The ATP is being prepared in consultation with the community and local active transport groups. Adjoining Councils are also involved to ensure integration with the wider active transport network. Once the ATP has been adopted by council, a copy will be made available on our website.

Leash-free areas

Puppy Playtime - Off-Leash Areas

Council provides off-leash areas for dogs at Elliott Reserve, Belfield Reserve and Allen Street Reserve. Allen Street Reserve is fully grated with dog play equipment, drinking facilities and seating.  Council has installed double gated entrances at the Punchbowl Road end of Elliott Reserve to improve safety.  While dogs are free to run without leashes in these parks, please remember to place all dog litter in the bays and bins are provided. Happy fetching!
