Women in Surf Life Saving: Choose to Challenge
As part of our celebration of International Women's Day (8 March), we had a chat to four inspirational women about who inspires them and their views of the roles that women play in our movement.
Vale Reg Wood: The Teacher
It is with great sadness Surf Life Saving NSW advises the passing of life member Reginald (Reg) Wood aged 94. A highly respected and passionate lifesaver and advocate for the movement, Reg played a number of integral roles within Surf Life Saving for 77 years.
Funeral details: 11am on Friday 19 March 2021, Thompson Street Community Hall, Sussex Inlet followed by a gathering of friends and family at Sussex Inlet Bowling Club.
Eight Straight Titles for Newport
The 2021 NSW Open Surf Life Saving Championships, proudly supported by Your local club, wrapped up at Swansea Belmont and Redhead SLSCs on Sunday. With Lifesaving events and the Surf Boat competition still to run, the sizable lead held by the Newport club will no doubt see them crowned NSW Champions yet again.

Nominations for SLSNSW Director Positions
SLSNSW is calling for nominations for Deputy President (Specified Director) and Director Position (Unspecified Director) for a three-year term. Candidates interested in nominating must complete and sign the nomination form and lodge it with their Branch by COB Wednesday, 31 March 2021, which is then due to be submitted to Steven Pearce, SLSNSW CEO, by COB Friday, 2 April 2021.
2020/21 Junior Lifesaver of the Year Program and Youth Opportunity Makers Workshop Participants
SLSNSW would like to congratulate our young members selected for the 2020/21 Junior Lifesaver of the Year program and the Youth Opportunity Makers workshop. Both programs will be run from 12 - 14 April at The Collaroy Centre. Visit our website for the full list of participants.
Community Education Focus GroupSLSNSW is seeking expressions of interest from male patrolling members aged 16-25 who would like to participate in a focus group that will assist in the development of a new young male-targeted program that aims to prevent risk-taking behaviour by young males around coastal areas. Head Above Water 24 Hour Swimathon
The Head Above Water 24 Hour Swimathon, proudly supporting Gotcha4Life, will be held at the Collaroy Rockpool, starting at 8am on Saturday 20 March and finishing at 8am on Sunday 21 March, 2021. Registrations are now open so get your mates together and help raise money for a great cause - aiming to build mentally fit communities on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The 2021 Warilla-Barrack Point SLSC Summer Iron Classic will be held on Sunday 21 March. An exciting and challenging M-Course Ironman event open to competitors from U10’s to opens. Entries close Friday 12 March.

South West Rocks SLSC will be hosting the Country Branch Championships 50 Year Reunion & 60 Years of North Coast Branches Championships on Friday 16 - Sunday 18 July.
Era Beach Ocean Challenge - Era SLSC
Registrations close tonight for the Era Beach Ocean Challenge to be held this Saturday 13 March. The 2.2km swim takes competitors from Garie Beach, past the Little Garie Cabin Community, past the North Era Campgrounds, and into Era Beach.

Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
