Stay tuned - there's something special at the end, stay with it.... BOLGHERI TUSCANY Sangiovese is the core constituent in some of the great names in Italian wine. Italy's love affair with Sangiovese – and indeed the world's – is generations old. We find Rosso di Montalcino right here in the heart of Tuscany. MONTEPULCIANO Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of Italy's classic red wines, and has unquestionably helped Tuscany retain its privileged place on the world wine map. It comes from the vineyards which surround Montepulciano, a picturesque hill town 25 miles southeast of Siena. UMBRIA Montefalco wines come from Umbria, central Italy. This area is steeped in grape-growing and wine-making traditions. Just two wines are produced under DOC regulations; one red, one white, and both based on traditional Umbrian grape varieties. The red Sagrantino grape features in the standard rosso wine. LOMBARDY Located at the heart of northern Italy, Lombardy is entirely landlocked, bordered by Piedmont to the west, Emilia-Romagna to the south and Veneto to the west. Vines have been cultivated around the shores of Lake Garda for centuries. A white wine developing out of Erbamat and Trebbiano Valtenesi is of interest to us... TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE The terrain is mountainous, with the Dolomites and Rhaetian Alps enveloping the area. Like many of the world’s wines that are the most challenging to make, there is a real emphasis on quality, especially in the Pinot Bianco. LE MARCHE Rosso Conero is one of the 12 DOC zones in the southern part of the Marche region, in central Italy. Mount Conero provides an ideal terroir for the cultivation of vines. you waited and here it is.... MONTALCINO To the south of Siena is a classic fairytale hilltop town, set within a full circle of fortified walls and watched over by a mighty castle of medieval perfection. Montalcino, west of Pienza, is a beautiful village immersed in the breathtaking Val d'Orcia Natural Park, renowned all over the world for the production of its precious Brunello red wine. Yes, it's a NEW Brunello... No, I won't tell you which it is, but let's ask these guys: RP 93 - The Wine Advocate JS 92 - James Suckling
By: Jeffrey Jones - The *** ** **** is a wonderful 2010 Brunello. It offers classic Brunello dark red fruit flavors that are complemented with earthy and dusty deliciousness. I think that this wine is drinking very well now and is a great introduction to the 2010 vintage. By: Ryan Woodhouse - Big, bold, brassy red fruits, scorched earth, lots of toasted spice and subtle licorice. A bold, rich, Brunello that is sure to be a crowd pleaser for years to come. By: Shaun Green - The *** ** **** is again showing wonderfully in the 2010 vintage. It has a great showing of mixture of brambly and plummy fruit in abundance and a wonderful structure underneath. The fruit coats the tannin well and it will be hard to resist drinking early - but make sure to give some bottles time in the cellar. |
