NEERO's Commitment to Racial Justice, Inclusivity, and Equity

Resources and Links

As the Board of the New England Educational Research Organization (NEERO), we are compelled to speak out in response to the murders of Jacob Blake, Daniel Prude, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, and a long list of Black people and people of color whose lives have been cut short by senseless acts of brutality, violence, and racism. We share outrage, frustration, and an ongoing commitment to action. Black Lives Matter.

Fritzgerald, A. (2020). Antiracism and Universal Design for Learning. CAST Publishing.

This new book connects antiracism with Universal Design for Learning to build an effective framework to teach Black and Brown students.

Hambacher, E. & Ginn, K. (2020). Race-visible teacher education: A review of the literature from 2002 to 2018. Journal of Teacher Education (Online First).

In this review of the literature, Hambacher and Ginn draw on critical race theory, critical whiteness studies, and critical pedagogy to examine teacher educators’ race-visible efforts in preservice teacher education and inservice teacher professional development.

Gennetian, L.A. & Yoshikawa, H. (September 2020). Race and racism: The blindspot in research on poverty and child development. Child and Family Blog.

This blog highlights blind spots in research on poverty and child development with respect to race and racism. The authors offer recommendations for building a dynamic and resilient worldview.
