Patient Medical Home Steering Committee

Patient Medical Home is becoming a reality in Oceanside. After a successful meeting on Feb.7th, we have been able to move ahead with a small steering committee who will guide this work moving forward.

We need a few more GP's to join the small committee. You will be the steering hand to position us and our PMH program in Oceanside to take full advantage of additional funding coming from the Ministry.

If you were not able to make that event and are interested in helping shape PMH here, please get in touch with Tina Biello before Feb.21 at tbiello@divisionsbc.ca.  You can also have a look at the document produced from the group discussions at the last implementation plan meeting here.

GST And how it applies to you as a Physician

I wanted to take an the opportunity to introduce myself, my colleague Steve Majoros and our firm. Our firm prepares the audit for the Oceanside Division of Family Practice. We work with a number of other Division’s on the Island which is how we came to work with the Oceanside Division.

We have offices in Courtenay and in Campbell River. Steve Majoros, a CPA, CA in our office who performs the audit is married to a family physician and together they run a local clinic in Campbell River with another doctor so he is very familiar with the world of family physicians and doctors in general.

One item that we are receiving a lot of questions on from our clients who are physicians as well as from other Divisions is on GST for on call fees (Doctor of the Day) and Block and Annual fees.

We prepared the attached document that summarizes the questions and answers to them for physicians and the Divisions. Please feel free to distribute it to the physicians or keep it on hand should anyone ask about it.

Please do not hesitate to give me a call should you have any questions about the attachment or anything else at all.

Cycle of Life Tour - Oceanside Hospice Wheelers

This year 10 of us are riding in the 200km bicycle tour to raise funds for Oceanside Hospice. The tour is organized by the Victoria Hospice for the benefit of all island hospices. Our team, Oceanside Hospice Wheelers, aims to raise at least $10,000 and are now just over $5000.

Hospice provides an important community service, as you know, and is largely funded by fund raising and grants. Donations are happily received!
