Kia ora friend of NEXT

By investing in education - NEXT aims to empower the young people of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

Ako Mātātupu: Teach First NZ ticks both of those boxes. It’s a programme that recruits top University graduates and career changers, who undergo an intensive teacher training course then go on to teach at some of the most challenging schools in New Zealand. The participants often develop into educational leaders - and the young people they teach get the benefit of a high calibre teacher.

In this newsletter we bring you an edition of NEXT Outlook with the Chief Executive of Ako Mātātupu: Teach First NZ, Jay Allnutt, who discusses how philanthropy and partnerships are helping address the inequities in our education system.

We also bring you a heart warming video from another NEXT education initiative, Talking Matters. Two and a half year old Te Amio-whenua is a walking, talking advertisement for this project - the story is well worth the watch.

Humanitix has launched in New Zealand with some support from NEXT - we share details of this not-for-profit supporting education, and another good news story from Project Janszoon - where 24 kākā have been released into the wild in the Abel Tasman National Park the first time in living memory.
