Welcome Back! This is the second edition of the Careers in CVM newsletter dedicated to inform internal stakeholders in UF CVM about trends in the veterinary career fields, opportunities for events and workshops, and resources available to our UF CVM students, faculty, and staff.
Career Resources Now Available in the College
The UF CVM Careers website now has resources for the UF CVM community. Access this page to view example resume, CV, cover letter, and reference pages, job search tips, resume bullet point resources, open positions, LinkedIn and more!
Faculty and Staff Resources - Mock Interviews Available
Through Gator CareerLink (GCL), Faculty and Staff now have the opportunity to assign virtual mock interviews for students to practice their skills. Faculty and Staff members are able to assign a pre-recorded mock interview or create a new one. Current mock interviews available include an Associate Veterinarian interview as well as academia style questions, general behavioral questions and general veterinary questions that can be combined into a customized mock interview. Student Tip - Maximize LinkedIn to stay up-to-date on the job market
LinkedIn is a very beneficial tool for current students, employees, and future leaders in the Veterinary Industry. Unlike Facebook, LinkedIn provides a professional, business platform to connect with other professionals and organizations with similar career interests. In order to make the most of LinkedIn, connect with your classmates, previous supervisors and colleagues, faculty, and other veterinary medicine peers. Consider joining groups or following organizations liek Veterinary Career Connection, AVMA, and AAHA to name a few. Currently there are 4600+ job postings on LinkedIn for Veterinary Medicine that can be filtered by location, company, experience level and more! For assistance with navigating LinkedIn and updating or reviewing your LinkedIn profile schedule an appointment by clicking the button on the left.
