Click here ![]() DATE: 8th September 2021 TO: All Staff Returning to Work after a Process ![]() Please be reminded of the procedure on Returning to Work after a Non-Work-Related Injury or Illness (CCID1620999) on Calvary Connect. Calvary is committed to implementing work practices and injury management programs that ensure employees feel valued and supported in the return to work process. In supporting employees who are unable to attend work due to a non-work related illness or injury, Calvary must also balance its responsibilities with relevant legislation, industrial instruments and Calvary policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of patients and other colleagues and minimising the risk of injury exacerbation to those returning to work. A staff member who:
shall provide a medical clearance certificate before returning to work.
Unit Managers/Supervisors The Unit Manager/Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that staff members who have sustained a non-work related injury/illness do not return to work prior to the provision of a ‘full medical clearance’ from the staff member’s treating medical practitioner and/or they have successfully completed a functional capacity assessment as appropriate. If they have any concerns regarding the health and fitness of an employee, they shall raise them with the Senior Service Manager to determine if further medical assessments by a suitably qualified independent healthcare professional are required to confirm fitness for work status. Employees All employees who have sustained a non-work related injury/illness must notify their Manager/Supervisor in sufficient time and during business hours for any decisions to be made with respect to their duties or hours of work. Workers are responsible for the provision of the correct medical clearance before they can return to their normal duties at a Calvary Facility. Where requested they will attend a functional capacity assessment and/or undergo an independent medical assessment.
