Junior Lifesavers of the Year Announced
The 2021 Junior Lifesavers of the Year from every Surf Life Saving Branch in NSW have come together in Sydney this week to challenge themselves and learn new skills. Of the 22 young participants, the overall NSW Junior Lifesaver of the Year award was presented to Taylah Moffitt from Kempsey Crescent Head SLSC and Vivek Sirkari from Warriewood SLSC.
Surf Boat Finale to NSW Championships
The 2021 NSW Surf Life Saving Championships, proudly supported by Your local club, concluded with the high flying action of the surf boat competition, which was rescheduled after floods forced the event to be cancelled in March.
Sod Turning Marks Start of new Long Reef Surf Club
The long-awaited new Long Reef Surf Club and the associated community facilities has become a tangible reality with officials turning the first sod to mark start of construction on Monday. The $7.5 million building will boast a brand-new, purpose-built clubhouse, council lifeguard and board rider group and community storage facilities, a café and a public amenities block.

Passing of SLSNSW Life Member Kevin Morrison
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of SLSNSW and SLSA Life Member Kevin Morrison from Nambucca Heads SLSC.
Kevin gained his Bronze Medallion in 1949 and received Life Membership of his club in 1968, the North Coast Branch in 1974 and SLSNSW in 1977.
Kevin served many years in various roles at his club and branch, including Club Captain, Treasurer and President. He was North Coast Branch President for 10 years from 1966-76 and served on numerous committees at Branch and State level.
On behalf of the Board and staff of Surf Life Saving NSW, our condolences are extended to Kevin’s family and friends, including daughter Jayne Morrison who is the Director of Lifesaving, North Coast Branch.
At Kevin’s request, no funeral arrangements will be made.

NSW Floods Funding Assistance
Updated 12 Apr - Disaster assistance has been activated for local government areas affected by the NSW flood emergency. More information is available on our website as well as the Rural Assistance Authority website.
2021 NSW Community Sports Awards
The 2021 NSW Community Sports Awards nominations are now open. The Awards recognise outstanding achievements and contributions to community sport in NSW – largely carried out by a volunteer workforce.
2021 NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards
Nominations are now open for the 2021 NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards. If you know a quiet achiever within Surf Life Saving who personifies the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, make sure you nominate them before 9 May.

Grants & Fundraising
Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.
