"'Hell-On' is one of [Case's] best...her voice remains a force all its own." - Rolling Stone
“No other album in [Case’s] catalog is so musically rich and orchestrated” – Pitchfork
"An attempt to confront challenges [Case] has faced simply by being a woman, and a celebration of the internal power she was able to unlock" - The New York Times
“Soaring” [Entertainment Weekly] … “Gutting” [New York Magazine] … “A pitch-perfect roar of female defiance” [The Guardian]. These are just a few of the peerless reviews of Hell-On, Neko Case’s 8th and latest studio album. In the midst of her US fall headlining tour, Case performed three songs from the record over the weekend on CBS This Morning: Saturday. Watch the exciting performances of “Halls of Sarah”, “Last Lion of Albion” and “Winnie” now.
“I'm writing fairy tales, and I hear my life story in them, but they're not about me,” Case says. “I still can't figure out how to describe it. But I think that's why we make music or write things. You've got to invent a new language.”
With a Hell-On stage show featuring glowing, life-size wasp nests and Neko outfitted like a wasp queen, Case recently headlined NYC’s Beacon Theatre, Atlanta’s Variety Playhouse and the Palace Theatre in St. Paul where Minneapolis’s The Current live streamed the entire show; the archived performance is available for viewing HERE.
“You can count on Case and her electrifying band to put on a dynamite show,” the Portland Press Herald said of her Portland, Maine show that also took place in the past month. Looking forward, Case will be a headlining performer alongside Run the Jewels and Mastodon this Sunday at the first-ever Adult Swim Festival before beginning a headlining run of dates in Europe and then returning for select West coast tour dates before the year’s end.
