    Indian Lifesavers Learn New Skills

Boasting a population in excess of a billion people and thousands of kilometres of coastline, India is a nation on the rise. One challenge that the country desperately needs to address is its alarmingly high rate of drowning. Two young men are keen to do their part to arrest the problem with the help of Coogee SLSC.

    Never Ending Summer For Tathra

Visitors to Tathra Beach on the state’s Far South Coast will once again be able to enjoy the benefits of a lifeguard patrolled beach on weekdays into February after local businesses united to fund an additional month of patrols for a fourth straight summer.

Lifesavers Honoured In Australia Day Awards

A number of long serving surf club members have been recognised for their outstanding efforts and contributions to their respective communities in the 2018 Australia Day Honours List announced last Friday.

NSW Lifesavers Win Inaugural Youth Cup

It was an Australia Day to remember for the next generation of NSW surf sport stars after the teenaged team made a winning start to their representative career by taking out the inaugural Youth Pathway Cup at Sydney’s Freshwater Beach.

    Lifesavers To Re-enact Famous Rescue

History will be made at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach this weekend when volunteers from Bondi Surf Bathers Club, North Bondi SLSC, Waverly Lifeguards, and other clubs from across the Sydney Branch come together to re-create the famous 1938 Black Sunday Rescue and CPR event.

Utilising the same equipment that their predecessors used eight decades ago, it will be as close as today’s lifesavers can get to what was a truly unique moment in Australian history.

On that February 6th in 1938, almost 200 people were plucked from the ocean with 35 of those being unconscious and requiring CPR treatment.

This weekend’s recreation takes place this Sunday 4 February between 3-4pm, with Bondi Surf Bathers extending an open invitation to anyone wishing to witness it.
