JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 31 - 24 February 2020

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Read our construction update to see what has been achieved and what is coming up on the Karangahape Road Enhancements project. 

 

Upper Queen Street to Mercury Lane 

Work has progressed well over the last week with large sections of roadside kerblines installed and traffic island base poured.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Continue to pave the traffic island separating the cycleway from vehicles from the mid block pedestrian crossing towards Mercury lane
  • Continue laying pavers on the footpath at the mid-block pedestrian crossing. Access to businesses will be maintained while this work continues 
  • Continuing with the the kerbline along the roadside including the bus stop kassel kerb between the mid block pedestrian crossing and Mercury Lane

Upcoming night works - what to expect:

  •  Near the mid block pedestrian crossing, the air vacuum truck will be in operation from 16:30 today for approximately 3 hours.  This machine is used to safely excavate around live underground services.  This will be followed by kerbline preparation works

Ponsonby Road to Hereford Street

Works are progressing well on the remaining section of the speed table across Hereford Street.  This morning the new concrete footpath was poured on the Hereford Street corner by Joy Bong Thai Restaurant and will be available for pedestrians again later this afternoon.

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Installing the radius kerbline
  • Continue to pave the speed table ramp and cycle way deliniation
 

Hereford Street to Howe Street

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Howe Street Corner
    • Continue ducting work 
    • Beginning to install the radius kerbline
    • Night works to install temporary traffic lights
  • Hereford Street Corner
    • Asphalt the cycleway across the Hereford Street intersection of Karangahape Road, (this work was planned to take place over the weekend, however due to the heavy rain on Saturday, it has been rescheduled for this week)

Upcoming night works - what to expect:

  • Tonight there will be works to install a temporary traffic light on the corner of Howe Street

Howe Street to Overbridge 

Upcoming works - what to expect:

  • Lay channel and paving base
  • Start installing footpath drainage
     

      Overbridge

      The framing and glass roof and panels for the first sections of the bus stop shelters have been installed.  Bus seating has also been installed in this section 

      Upcoming works - what to expect:

      • Continue installing the framing of the second section of the bus stop shelters

      Access - Reminder

      • Temporary Bus Service Relocation
      • The bus stops in this location have been relocated further along Karangahape Road, outside Blackboard Café.

      Below is a map of the Karangahape Road precinct showing the construction stages, temporary bus stop relocations and loading zones.

      The Auckland Transport project team are working closely with their parking enforcement team to monitor locations to ensure they're being correctly used. If you have a request for parking enforcement, please call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
