Primary care 10-Year Health Plan – Workshop in a Box As a reminder for those organisations who have used the Workshop In A Box to run their own events with patients and staff, the deadline to submit the feedback gathered via the Change.NHS.uk portal is tomorrow, Friday 14 February. The Workshop in a Box was designed to help colleagues engage with your communities and feed their insight into the development of the 10 Year Health Plan to make the NHS fit for the future. GP ARRS funding entitlement in 2024/25 Additional funding of £82 million was announced in 2024 to support the recruitment of recently qualified GPs via the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS). On 20 December 2024, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care wrote to all GP practices providing reassurance that this additional funding will continue into 2025/26. A reminder letter has been sent to primary care networks encouraging them to use their GP ARRS funding entitlement in 2024/25 to recruit recently qualified GPs. ICBs are working with PCNs who have not yet taken advantage of the funding. PCNs needing more information should get in touch with their ICB primary care lead. General practice Updates to medical certificates of cause of death guidance DHSC has updated their guidance for medical practitioners completing medical certificates of cause of death (MCCD) with regards to implantable medical devices and medical practitioner qualifications. Medical practitioners are asked to adhere to the guidance to make sure death certification and registration are processed swiftly. GP practices are asked to check they have enough MCCDs to last until the end of April 2025. Guidance is available on ordering and retaining MCCDs and counterfoils, and what to do with those in use before 9 September 2024. Represent general practice on a NICE committee – apply today The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is seeking GPs or others working in general practice to join its violence and aggression: prevention and management guideline committee. As a NICE committee member, you will drive discussions that help shape best practice care. You do not need to be senior or highly experienced. If you are keen to understand the latest evidence and contribute your views, you are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is 11.59pm on Monday 3 March 2025. Easy read information on diabetes available Dentistry National dental workforce collection – annual collection closing soon The new annual collection of dental workforce data will close at midnight on 17 February 2025. As this is the first annual collection, with data already collected across January to 31 March 2024, the collection will cover April to December 2024. The e-form to complete the national dental workforce collection can be accessed through the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) compass system and all contractors will receive an email notification when the form is live. Get involved Join the national cardiac webinars The NHS England Cardiac Transformation team is holding a series of national cardiac webinars exploring key topics and advancements in cardiac care. The National CVD Prevention Team at NHS England will be hosting a National Lipid Management Webinar - Statins and Beyond webinar on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, 1pm - 2pm. Lipid management is a national priority. This webinar is aimed at service leads, service managers, and clinicians involved in lipid management services across primary, secondary and community care. Social prescribing link worker survey 2025 The National Association of Social Prescribers is asking for social prescribing link workers to share details of their day-to-day experiences in this survey to help inform and shape their future work. The survey is open to all link workers based in England. All responses are anonymous and the results of the survey will be shared in April 2025. The survey closes on Wednesday 5 March 2025. NHS Digital weight management programme The NHS Digital weight management programme is available via self-referral for NHS staff. Over 32,000 NHS colleagues have utilised the offer. The programme takes 12 weeks to complete. Participants can choose a weight management plan to develop healthier habits and lose weight. Find out more about the staff offer. The programme is available to the wider public and 385,000 people have been referred having met the criteria of living with obesity plus a diagnosis of diabetes, or hypertension, or both.
