EXPLORE YOUR WAY TO WELLBEING DURING MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEKThis year Mental Health Awareness Week will be held from Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th September 2019. Despite the recent positive Government commitment towards improving mental health accessibility, the waiting list for individuals is unacceptably long and difficult to access. Wellington has the longest waiting list for early intervention services in the country.
Currently 18% of primary aged school children have complex needs such as learning and behavioural challenges. Of these only 3% currently receive funding support.

AT THE MOVIESPlaying At Shoreline Cinema, Waikanae this week ... Downton Abbey The film, which is directed by Michael Engler, is set in 1927. It will feature a dramatised version of our current Queen’s grandparents, who are hosted in the stately home we’ve come to know and love.
Since we first met the Crawleys in 1912 (or, real time, 2010), a lot has changed. Their once enormous family funds have now dwindled, and there are far fewer servants hurrying around the cavernous household.
In the big-screen version of ITV’s series, Carson the butler, played by Jim Carter, comes out of retirement in an attempt to restore a sense of Downton’s former glory.
Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, provides the biggest dose of drama, as she contemplates leaving the estate forever. Anna Bates, Mary’s loyal maid and friend, played by Joanne Froggatt, tries to convince her ladyship that Downton plays an important role in the community.
SPRING HAS SPRUNG!You only have to look around you to see that Spring has arrived. For many of us this is the best season – a time of freshness and new beginnings. Here are a few reasons that back up the theory that spring is not only a favourite time of the year, but it’s also good for us! Temperatures are moderate In New Zealand our daily temperatures rise from an average below 10 degrees in winter to a balmier
16-19 degrees. It can be challenging dressing for the day though. We often start the morning with a nippy 2 or 3 degrees, rising up quickly to 12 or 13. Layers are the best way to combat this problem because there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortably hot or cold. It’s always fun to dust off the lighter clothes and pack away the big winter jumpers.
Kāpiti Coast District Council has awarded $22,904.40 to nine local art projects through the latest round of the Creative Communities Scheme.
The Scheme, which is funded by Creative New Zealand and Council, allocates grants twice a year to support arts activities that celebrate Kāpiti culture and showcase the region’s diversity, particularly Toi Māori/Māori Arts. “The funding supports locally-driven projects with the goal of increasing community participation in the arts,” says the Creative Communities Scheme assessment committee Chairperson, Councillor Mark Benton.
NZ most likely to face significant future cyber attacksSingapore - New Zealand is most likely to face significant future cyber attacks, particularly as it is a member of the five-eyes alliance with the USA, the UK, Canada and Australia, which shares classified foreign intelligence, including the cyber operations of state actors, Theo Nassiokas, a leading global tech security expert, says. Nassiokas, the former cyber and information security director at Barclays in Singapore, is the key speaker at the 2019 New Zealand cyber security summit in Wellington on October 16.
