Returning for its 9th year in a row, this great family event takes in the Bay to Bay Cycleway from Freshwater Park to Ford Park. Participants can choose from a 5km or 10km run, a 5km walk or 10km relay. The event also features a 2km Kids Run. Coffee with a CopOn Tuesday 8 May the Flemington LAC were at Strathfield Square and invited the local community to have coffee with a cop, which proved to be a great opportunity to ask questions and get to know the officers who protect and serve the Strathfield LGA. Art of Ageing ExhibitionThe Art of Ageing is a photographic exhibition celebrating the value, experience and contributions older people bring to the community and challenges out-dated perceptions of ageing. When: Thu 17 May - Fri 15 June Local Organisation to Receive State GrantOn Tuesday 8 May the Honourable Ray Williams, Minister for Multiculturalism and Minister for Disability Services, awarded the Tamil Senior Citizens’ Association a grant of $3,000 to be used towards augmenting the work they do with their 800 members. Exhibition of Draft Development Control PlansCouncil, at its meeting on 6 March 2018 resolved to prepare an amendment to the Strathfield Consolidated Development Control Plan and the Strathfield Development Control Plan No 20 – Parramatta Road Corridor. The draft exhibition materials are on display until Friday 1 June and Friday 15 June 2018 respectively at Council’s Customer Service Centre, the Libraries and on the Council website in the public notice section. Bressington ParkThe redevelopment of Bressington Park is well under way and the reconfiguration will boast an additional sports field, playground, 2 cricket practice nets, passive recreation fenced area along with 140 car parking spaces. 1000 trees/shrubs will be planted at Bressington Park which will enhance the natural corridor through Strathfield LGA and along the Parramatta River catchment. Calling All Aspiring Green Thumbs!Have you always wanted to learn how to grow new plants and keep them healthy? Council will be running a series of garden clinic workshops in late May for those who would like to learn more about plants, gardens and how to take care of them! Strathfield 2030The Strathfield 2030 Draft Community Strategic Plan is currently on exhibition until 16 May and can be viewed here, or at Customer Service or the Libraries. Throwback ThursdayRedmyre Road Service StationBefore Strathfield Plaza was built in 1981, part of the land was occupied by the Redmyre Garage which was a service station locals would depend on for car repairs, car washes and to fill up on petrol.
