School will be closed Wednesday 15 August 2018As has been communicated to parents over the last few newsletters, members of the teachers' union, NZEl, have voted to reject the government’s offer in the negotiations of the new collective agreement and have voted to strike next Wednesday, 15 August. The Board of Trustees supports our teachers in taking this action, and acknowledges the importance of ensuring we have the best teachers working with our students. In order to achieve this teacher workload, pay and conditions need to be addressed. In supporting this action, and determining that Te Hihi school would be unable to provide a safe and secure environment for our students, the Board of Trustees has decided to close the school for the day on Wednesday, 15 August. The board’s decision extends to SKIDS as well and as such, SKIDS will not operate on Wednesday 15 August. The board apologises for any inconvenience this closure may cause parents and calls on the government and union to work to a speedy and acceptable resolution.
