JFC Construction Update - Construction Progress - Issue 41 - 8 June 2020 Housekeeping: Rubbish and recycling removal during construction in your zoneWe have noticed some rubbish and recycling building up around bins, creating an unpleasant environment for all. While the construction fences are up, all rubbish and recycling must be put out at the nearest corner location, as this makes it easier for Council’s maintenance contractors to remove. We are working with the maintenance contractors and Council to keep this maintained. Upcoming night works what to expect: Subject to traffic management approvals, night works are taking place this week at the Upper Queen Street corner to move the existing traffic light. These night works are taking place in the evening due to lower pedestrian and vehicle numbers as changes to the traffic lights are required. Vehicle and footpath access will be maintained around the work. The existing traffic light will be removed and put onto a drum so that work on the kerbline can continue. This work will only take one night to complete. Please note there will be intermittent medium to high volume noise, i.e. grinding but we will endeavour to have noisy works completed by 10:30pm Mercury Lane to West TerraceUpcoming works - what to expect:
Temporary Traffic management change - East Street: Works across East Street will be taking place in two phases. The first phase is to install future-proof ducting between Mercury Lane and West Terrace. The second phase is to construct the East Street speed table. We will return late June to construct the speed table. In order for the ducting to be installed without closing the road, we will be reducing East Street to one lane at the Karangahape Road intersection. This means that we will have a Stop/Go operation in place for the duration of this work. This is expected to take one week. West Terrace temporary road closure - planned start mid June: Work to construct the speed table in West Terrace is planned to start mid-June, subject to traffic management approval. Due to the narrow nature of West Terrace, a temporary road closure is required to construct the speed table. There will be no access to West Terrace via Karangahape Road. Vehicle access will be provided to residents only via Galatos Street. Pedestrian access from Karangahape Road to West Terrace will be unavailable during working hours. However in the evenings, we will reduce our working space/fencing and make pedestrian access available. During the day pedestrian access to Karangahape road from West Terrace will be via Galatos Street. This work is expected to take 6 weeks. OverbridgeThe steel work for the overbridge is under construction and is expected to be complete by late June. Hereford Street to Howe StreetThe traffic management plans allow for work on one side of Howe Street at a time. We have exposed the existing services and have also commenced installation of new ducting in this location. Work on this corner is pending relocation of services by asset owners to allow our works to continue.
