Research Year in Review The Department of Family Medicine Research Program has many accomplishments to be proud of for 2019, one of which is the anniversary (July) of the Research Newsletter. We hope you are finding the information useful and are always encouraged to share your stories, ideas and updates about new or ongoing research initiatives. Here are a few of this year’s highlights: Monthly Research Development Rounds sessions were
introduced and have provided excellent opportunities for researchers to share their ideas and gain valuable insight about their research plans. BedMed surpassed the number of participants recruited for their study, in comparison to the European MAPEC Trial that BedMed was designed to replicate. CHANGE expanded its reach into the community by adding the CHANGE Community Health Program and CHANGE Adventure Club. The book, Female Doctors in Canada, co-edited by Shelley Ross, Shirley Schipper and Earle Waugh was published. BETTER was recognized in the Patient’s Medical Home Implementation kit. Department researchers made the news with their work regarding asthma, blood pressure medication studies, information about CBD oil and more. The Annual Family Medicine Research Day and Practical Evidence for Informed Practice (PEIP) events were once again well-received, and the PEIP conference had an even larger attendance than previous years.
Congratulations to everyone who was recognized for their work over the year, from
poster presentations at provincial events to oral presentations at International conferences. Thank you to all of our program staff, students, partners and guests for another successful year promoting and advancing research and scholarly activity in the discipline of family medicine. We’ll see you in 2020.
