Healthy environment is a must for sustainable economy and equitable society "The facts are clear: the global climate is changing and this change is man-made; the diversity of life on earth is being lost at an unsustainable rate; and our consumption and production systems are simply unsustainable. Despite the magnitude of the task, it is still possible to build a sustainable future. The knowledge to steer this transition towards long-term sustainability is there. There is also growing public support for change. Now, we need to assume responsibility and accelerate this change." Hans Bruyninckx, Executive Director |

Moreover, there are big regional differences across Europe. Inequalities in exposure and impacts are likely to persist in the future." Interview with Aleksandra Kazmierczak on unequal impacts linked to unequal exposure to environmental hazards based on the EEA's recent report. |
