Click here December 13 2018 End of year message from the CEOIt has been a busy year with NTGPE welcoming 33 new GP registrars, successfully achieving bi-college accreditation, seeing 38 GP registrars achieve their fellowship, providing a successful professional development program for GP supervisors, and entering into a new agreement with the Commonwealth to operate the AGPT program in the NT for 2019-2021. RACGP and ACRRM have commenced detailed discussions with NTGPE and the regional training organisations about the transition of training from the Commonwealth and I will continue to keep you updated about the transition as it develops. Thank you to everyone who has supported NTGPE to achieve our vision of leading quality general practice training for a healthier future. NTGPE wishes you and your family all the best for the festive season and look forward to continuing to work with you in 2019. Stephen Pincus Danila Dilba wins AHRI Indigenous Employment AwardDanila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) has won the Stan Grant Indigenous Employment Award at the Australian Human Resources Industry (AHRI) awards in Brisbane on November 29, 2018. This award recognises excellence in Indigenous employment initiatives and programs in the workplace. DDHS has developed an Indigenous Employment and Career Pathways strategy to attract and retain Indigenous staff and now employ 175 staff with 50% Indigenous employment and 60% of the executive leadership team being Indigenous, including all clinic managers and general managers. Dr Maddy Sheppard shares her exam tipsWhat a year it has been for GP registrar Dr Maddy Sheppard who achieved the highest AKT exam score in the NT in 2018.1. Dr Sheppard is the second GP registrar on the NTGPE program to top the exam this year. Congratulations! Read about how she prepared for the exam and her 8 top tips to getting a winning pass mark. End of term subsidy claimsAs the term is coming to an end, GP registrars can submit their eligible subsidy claims for reimbursement. Subsidies can only be claimed for the current training year and have to be lodged to NTGPE no later than 2 weeks after the end of the applicable training year. Late claims will not be approved. GP supervisor and practice accreditation team updateThis month NTGPE sadly farewell the GP Supervisor and Practice Accreditation Coordinators Emma Carroll and Rachel Tijani as they set off on their next adventures interstate. Emma Carroll has worked with the organisation for seven years. During her time she has developed strong working relationships with GP supervisors and training posts and helped grow the GP supervisor and training post support program into what it is today. Rachel Tijani joined the team this year and has played an important role in the delivery of Mobile Office and GP supervisor professional development in the different regions. We thank both of them for all their hard work and dedication in the roles and we know that you will join us in wishing them all the very best for the future. We welcome Kylie Roberts and Tracy Beesley into the Supervisor and Accreditation Coordinator roles.
