Top 100 Golf Courses "BiteSize" - February 2015

If you are reading this, you have probably contributed to the Top 100 website in some way, perhaps by posting a golf course review. There are tens of thousands of reviews posted on the site and we felt it was important to recognise our regular reviewers. During February we implemented a significant change to the site’s functionality. We’ve dedicated a new page for every reviewer, which can be personalised with a short biography and a photograph. It’s not compulsory to have a personalised page, so reviewers can remain anonymous. We’ve also created a Top Reviewers page which lists our Top 20 reviewers. If you’d like to create a personal profile please email us and include your personal bio and photo.

Top 30 Golf Courses of Japan 2015

There’s no change at the top of our extended Japanese rankings and it’s no coincidence that four of our five top ranked tracks all benefitted from the architectural input of Charles Hugh Alison when he visited the country in the early 1930s. It’s true to say the architect’s three-month trip to Japan left an indelible mark on the nation’s future course designs.

Top 50 Golf Courses of New Zealand 2015

Our latest Kiwi rankings show very little movement at the top half of the table, but lower down the list there’s a fair level of change. For the first time since we’ve been ranking New Zealand’s courses there are no new entries. The main buzz surrounds the new Tara Iti Golf Club. We’ve spoken to a couple of people who have been lucky enough to play a few holes in their raw state, and both were highly impressed by their experience.

Top 30 Golf Courses of Malaysia 2015

Since 2009, when we created our first Top 10 chart for Malaysia, we’ve tried to showcase the very best courses in that particular corner of South East Asia. Our coverage of golf courses in that nation doubled to a Top 20 in 2011 and now, four years further on, we’re extending our rankings even further by presenting our new Malaysian Top 30.

The Shipwreck Coast

The Shipwreck Coast, located in the south west of Victoria, Australia, stretches from Cape Otway to Port Fairy, a distance of some 130 kilometres. Over time, in excess of 600 vessels have perished in this coastal labyrinth, giving rise to the comment by explorer, Mathew Flinders, “I have seldom seen a more fearful section of coastline”. Golf abounds in the district and two courses Warrnambool Golf Club and Port Fairy Golf Links are the most prominent and worthy of portrayal. Photo by Gary Lisbon.

Top 10 Golf Courses in Bedfordshire 2015

It will come as no surprise to those that know Beds golf to hear that the county’s standard-bearer is once again John O’Gaunt, which came out head and shoulders above the rest. Despite moderate survey returns, the Beds respondents were all remarkably consistent, rating only 14 courses from a possible 28. Two clubs went head-to-head for second place and Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands narrowly squeezed Dunstable Downs into third place. The rest of the Bedfordshire table has been comprehensively reshuffled.

Top 10 Golf Courses in Cambridgeshire 2015

To define our latest Cambridgeshire Top 10, we once again polled every club in the county and we received an amazing response with more than 60% of the county’s clubs participating in our survey. The results were interesting, not least because the No.1 spot in Cambridgeshire was the most fiercely contested position we’ve ever experienced. In the end it came down to the fifth decimal point to separate the Old course at Gog Magog from Saffron Walden.
