The conditions were extremely difficult throughout
the year with continued pressure on pricing conditions. However, the insurance industry continued to attract traditional and alternative capital. Lloyd's is always rated A (excellent) by A.M. Best, AA- (very strong) by Fitch and A + (strong) by Standard & Poor's. PARIS & LONDON: STRENGTHENING The future brings many new technologies and digital transformation, both Paris and London are preparing by working to reinforce their partnership through technology and innovation. There have already been several events in Paris reinforcing this collaboration: the "European Roadshow Paris Delegation’' on 28th-29th March, the "Baromètre de l’attractivité 2016 en Ile-de-France" 28th March, the visit of the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, in Paris to announce ‘London is Open’ and "Venture Capital & Tech 2011", 29th March. London will be holding a similar event ‘London Tech Week’, 12th-16th June, which will showcase and celebrate the best of tech. This collaboration with Paris and London also matches up with ‘Les Voisins’ the programme recently launched between Britain and France to bind the two countries and celebrate the long standing ties. This initiative was recently launched in Paris when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came to visit. During his recent visit, both Sadiq Khan and the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, called to “join forces” as part of an attempt to limit the impact of Brexit. At the event ‘Baromètre de l’attractivité 2016 en Ile-de-France’, the advantages of investment in Paris and the importance of collaboration were made clear. With the Paris region joining the ranks as one of the four main innovation hubs in the world along with Silicon Valley, Israel, and Shenzhen, China. The University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) are delighted to present this joint seminar as part of the European politics seminar series, Challenging Europe. Under the title, the Making and Unmaking of Citizenship, Prof Bridget Anderson (Professor of Migration and Citizenship and Research Director at COMPAS) will explore the impact of immigration controls – both positive and negative - on UK citizens. With article 50 triggered by Theresa May earlier this week and the fate of EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in Europe set to play a key role in the UK’s exit negotiations from the EU, the evening will offer a chance to reflect on one of the most pressing and most personal questions raised by the Brexit vote to date. The seminar will be chaired by ULIP and QMUL's newly appointed Professor of International Politics, Engin Isin. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening of debate and discussion.
