Congratulations to Professor Emeritus Doug Pearce

In January we said goodbye to Professor Douglas Pearce who retired after a long and successful career, the last 15 years of which have been as Head of the Tourism Management Group here at Victoria.

Congrats to our Graduates and Graduate Speaker Jackson Smith

Despite the cancellation of the traditional graduation parade due to bad weather, the spirits of the graduands, their proud family, friends, and staff were not dampenedon 14 May.

The Tourism Group (Karen, Ian, Mondher, Christian, Adam and Luisa) would like to take this opportunity to recognise and congratulate all the tourism graduands on their achievement and wish them all the best for the future.

We were also proud to see BTM graduate Jackson Smith take centre stage at the Cappping ceremony as Graduate Speaker. Jackson affiliates to Wairiki Ngati Apa (Whanganui), Tainui (Hamilton), Tangahoe (Hawera), and Te Atiawa (New Plymouth).

Dr Mondher Sahli re-elected IATE Secretary-General

Dr Mondher Sahli was re-elected Secretary-General of the International Association for Tourism Economics in July 2015, with a renewed mandate for two years. IATE is an established organisation in the field of tourism economics, having hosted five international conferences since its inaugural event in Palma de Mallorca in 2007...Read more

Welcome to Dr Dominik Huber

Dr Dominik Huber has joined the Tourism Group from AUT University, where he completed his PhD on the travel behaviour of seniors. In Trimester 2 he is teaching TOUR 230 Visitor Management and TOUR108 Tourism in New Zealand.

Enhancing student employablity

Victoria's Bachelor of Tourism Management degree includes the tourism practicum, where students gain valuable work experience and career planning advice.
