Help save koalas this breeding season
Koala breeding season is here and everyone in the community has an important role to play to keep them safe between now and January.
Our furry friends face increased threats during breeding season when adults move around the city looking for a mate, and the previous year’s young disperse to find their own home range.
To reduce threats to our koalas this breeding season:
-
drive carefully, especially during dusk and dawn
-
contain your dog at night - either in a kennel, small koala-proof enclosure or inside your house or garage
-
always keep your dog on a leash when walking outside of an off-leash area
-
create a koala friendly backyard by ensuring safe passage through the landscape
-
report all joeys without a mother to Wildcare Australia immediately.
Help us monitor the effectiveness of our conservation strategies and report your koala sightings.
If you see a koala that appears sick, injured or in danger, is sitting on the ground, or is a joey without its mother – call Wildcare Australia immediately on 07 5527 2444.
