No Images? Click here We invite K-12 classroom teachers across the U.S. to participate in the first-ever #ActiveClassrooms Campaign from April 23-May 4! Why? Because active classrooms help teachers to teach and students to learn – Active Kids Learn Better! Deciding about use of class time for academics or physical activity/health is a false choice! Teachers can contribute to their students’ need for at least 60 minutes a day of physical activity while simultaneously teaching and reinforcing academic concepts. What? During the two-week campaign (and beyond!), teachers can try active classroom strategies to energize or calm students, such as:
Learn about available programs/resources at www.activeschoolsus.org/active-classrooms Please encourage the classroom teachers in your school and district to participate — and let them know that if they enroll enroll as an Active Schools Champion between April 16-May 4, they will be eligible for a random prize drawing of 43 prizes worth over $13,798. As a champion they will receive a monthly e-newsletter filled with grant opportunities, free resources, and special events and have access to champion-only web pages such as partner discounts of 10-75%. Enrollment is free and quick (takes 1 minute). Go to www.activeschoolsus.org and click on blue SIGN UP button in the upper right. After you participate in the campaign, please share your active classroom strategies and experiences with others. We encourage you to post a message, story, picture and/or video on social media. Please include #ActiveClassrooms and @ActiveSchoolsUS. Other great hashtags include #ActiveKidsLearnBetter and #MovementIsClassroomManagement – and any that have special meaning to you. If your principal, physical education teacher and/or students’ parents come by your classroom to see it in action, please encourage them to post to social media as well! Please e-mail us!
