CEO Message

In positive news for Gippsland the State Government has just announced $3.2m over four years for tourism marketing of Gippsland.  Destination Gippsland ($1.2m) and Visit Victoria ($2m) will be working together to undertake market research and deliver Inspired by Gippsland and Wander Victoria brand marketing activities.  There will also be an emphasis on our high quality and emerging agritourism sector.

I look forward to sharing with you in coming months details about the opportunities to be involved in these marketing activities that will strengthen our visitor economy.

Inspired by Gippsland

'Limited Edition' experiences with Wander Victoria

In partnership with Visit Victoria, Destination Gippsland would like to identify amazing experiences our region offers that are available for a limited time only.  If you are aware of any events, natural or man-made then we would like to hear from you.

Visit Victoria will be focusing their marketing activities on key events or drawcards that are available for a limited time only – this could be the snow on Mt Baw Baw, or an upcoming food and wine festival in your region.  For spring, it might be the best place to view wildflowers.  Whatever the experience, please send the details through to the team at Destination Gippsland so we can share and broaden the reach of our spectacular “glimpse or you’ll miss it” moments.

Gippsland Tourism Business Feature - Waratah Hills Vineyard

Waratah Hills Vineyard is located on the road to the iconic Wilsons Promontory National Park.  Waratah Hills is one of the southernmost vineyards on the Australian mainland. The cool, maritime climate wine region is acknowledged as one of the best Pinot Noir producing areas in Australia.

Owners Judy and Neil Travers simple philosophy is to do everything possible to produce wine of the highest quality. Their artisan approach to detail involves hand picking by clones in small batches at just the right intensity of ripeness.

Judy and Neil have been kind enough to share their top five business tips.

1. Have a clear understanding of your business' point of difference and market advantage
2. Try new things
3. Network
4. Harness digital data – ie social media followers, email addresses
5. Always keep your eye on the bottom line - set achievable targets
