ETAP Webinar Series

Free Technical Webinar Series:
Register Today!

This fall, ETAP will be hosting a series of educational Webinars intended to help users maximize their productivity when performing detailed studies.

Sep 10 - Ground Grid System Analysis
This technical session will present a case study on ground grid design using IEEE 80 Standard and Finite Element Method (FEM).  Learn how to take advantage of FEM to design and analyze irregular earthing mat configurations of any shape.

Oct 1 - PD SQOP for Short Circuit & Arc Flash Studies
Learn about the features and benefits of using  Sequence-of-Operation (SQOP) to achieve an accurate and realistic Protective Device (PD) operating time under bolted and arcing fault conditions.

Oct 22 - ElectroMagnetic Transient Program - EMTP
The webinar will demonstrate the ETAP – EMTP interface as well as the applications of  EMTP anaylsis for switching transient, insulation coordination, lightning surges, sub-synchronous resonance, etc.

ETAP Software Student Edition

Student Edition™
Just in Time for Back to School

ETAP Student Edition™ is being released to participating colleges and universities in time for the 2014-15 school year.

Intended for educational use by undergraduate-level power systems engineering students, the software version is not limited to schools in our Power Lab program, although the participation of a faculty member is required.  The registration and downloading process is extremely fast, and the license is valid for six months; with a professor’s assistance, it can be easily renewed.

If you are a power systems engineering instructor – or a student, alumnus, or friend of a university that you think could benefit from the use of ETAP Student Edition – contact student.support@etap.com.

ETAP EMTP

ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) Analysis

ETAP now offers an ElectroMagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) for simulation and analysis of power system transients, switching transients, insulation coordination, lightning surges, etc.

This offering is the result of a technical collaboration between ETAP and EMTP-RV software developers. The companies are finalizing the development of an interface that allows for data exchange amongst the two modeling and anaylsis platforms.

This provides a complete range of modeling capabilities for analysis of EMTP phenomena in microseconds, presented via an intuitive user interface.

ETAP Interview at HXGN LIVE 2014

ETAP @ Intergraph Conference:
Model-Driven Engineering Solution

In a recent televised live interview at the annual Intergraph user conference, executives from ETAP, Schneider Electric, and Intergraph discussed the benefits of model-driven design and operations, simulation, predictive simulation, and other aspects of project lifecycle.

The interview explored the need for a total engineering solution where the facility is designed, analyzed, validated, and then taken online to provide the owner-operator a system for increased efficiency in the lifecycle management of their installations.

Today, system engineers and operators must have instant access to energy information and they need access to analysis tools that allow them to predict an outcome before actions are taken on the system. The ability to perform system studies and simulate “what-if” scenarios using real-time operating data on demand is of the essence.

ETAP Nuclear Utility Users Group:
Recap of the 14th Annual Conference

The 14th Annual ETAP Nuclear Utility Users Group (NUUG) Conference & Symposium was held this summer at the ETAP Learning Center in Irvine, California.

More than 50 nuclear industry veterans from around the world participated in four-day event, which featured presenters from more than a half-dozen companies, in addition to those from ETAP.  Technical presentations included discussions of recent engineering developments that are of specific interest to nuclear utility professionals, such as ETAP’s open phase fault analysis (OPFA) capabilities.

Participants discussed the unique electrical engineering challenges facing nuclear facilities, as well as specific software features and functions that would help address those challenges and improve facility safety.  Users then provided detailed suggestions to ETAP’s R&D group on how those enhancements could be incorporated into future software releases.
