No Images? Click here Hi everyone, I paid my first visit to the G.R.A.I.N. Store in Nathalia in October for the opening of the exhibition ‘Linden Lancaster: A Decade of Quilting’. If you haven’t been yet, put it on your list. As well as being a great space, it’s an outstanding example of what happens when long-term financial and emotional investments are made into the arts in rural communities (and make sure you speak to Bill Kelly during your visit). They are are not alone; plenty of other regional communities, organisations and artists are showing us what they're made of this month. After a stunning 2017 event, the Ballarat International Foto Biennale are touring their brilliant exhibition Tell to Sydney Festival in January 2018. Further to the west, the famous Nati Frinj Biennale kicks off this week, as does the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues in northeast Victoria. To the east of the state, Mallacoota Arts Council is opening the ambitious 30 Days of Art exhibition on 3 November, while in the southwest The Sound Doctor Presents is putting on An Evening with Leah Senior on 11 November. Community halls across Victoria and South Australia are on show throughout in November as part of Home is Where the Hall is, and we get more excited with every new message you send us about being part of Artlands in 2018. So read on and find out what’s happening near you this November! Joe Toohey Home is Where the Hall isToday it’s an art gallery, tomorrow it’s a theatre, next week it’s home to a flea market. In times of joy, the community hall houses weddings and celebrations; in difficult times, it’s where people gather quickly to face emergencies together. Home is Where the Hall is provides communities with the opportunity to shine a spotlight on their town hall. Want to celebrate your community hall this November? Registrations are now open for Home is Where the Hall is! Welcome new staff! We're thrilled to welcome Bindi Green and Edwina Guinness to the team.
