Coronavirus Information and Resources

A number of key updates have been made to the SLSNSW Coronavirus webpage, including updated information on outdoor gatherings, restaurant bookings and gyms. The COVID-19 Information Packs for Lifesaving and Sport have been updated to reflect the easing of restrictions for outdoor gatherings (from 20 to 30 people) and gyms.

Updated Surf Life Saving specific COVID-19 Safety Plan Templates are also available to download from Dropbox.

NSW Elite Athletes Burst Back Into Action 

Team Borg has taken out the first Envirobank NSW Super Team Series event at Swansea Belmont SLSC today. The team, lead by Nutri-Grain Ironman Jackson Borg (Newport SLSC), is made up of some of the sports top and most talented upcoming athletes, in the water and on the sand, and won round one with a total of 251 points.

Round two will be hosted by Bulli SLSC on Saturday 7 November, visit the SLSNSW website for further event info.

NSW Rotary Inspirational Women's Awards 2020

Three volunteer surf lifesavers have been named as finalists in the NSW Rotary Inspirational Women’s Awards for 2020. 

Sarah Bugbird from Merewether SLSC, Bianca Manuel from Clovelly SLSC and Molly Parker from North Steyne SLSC are all finalists in the awards which were established to recognise the enormous contribution women in both the urban and rural areas of NSW make to their communities.

Life Saving Defibrillator (AEDs) Deals!

SLSNSW has a life saving offer on selected defibrillators. Purchase a HeartSine Samaritan 360P (Fully Auto) Defibrillator Bundle and save $500 or a HeartSine Samaritan 500P (Semi Auto) Defibrillator Bundle and save $965.

Member Protection Information Officers

Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO) play an important role in community and sporting organisations. Now that the season is underway, it's a great time to allocate your club's MPIOs in the Officers list in SurfGuard to ensure they receive any updates related to their position. MPIOs should also review the new position description available to download from the SLSNSW website and complete the required training.

Annual Compliance Requirements - Annual Reports and Financial Statements 

Annual reports and Financial Statements are due to be sent electronically to Branch Administration or Development Officers by Friday 23 October 2020.

Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Envirobank Pop-Up and Collection Schedule Updates 

With the patrol season in full swing, Envirobank will begin the peak season pop-up and collection schedule from the 1 November 2020. Any additional collections during the season incur a $10 fee and can be scheduled by contacting Alister at amarnoch@envirobank.com.au or on 0477 020 088.

Sports Events Administrator (Contract Role)

The purpose of this role is to contribute towards the successful delivery of Surf Sports events through effective administration, logistics coordination and onsite support of SLSNSW sports.

Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!

With over 350 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:

• Lifeguard Supervisors
• Seasonal Lifeguards
• Casual Lifeguards.

Returning 2019/20 lifeguards must reapply online with their user number and password. To ensure your application is registered please follow the instructions on the Become a Lifeguard page of the Australian Lifeguard Service NSW website.

Australian UAV Service - Paid Positions Now Available!

With a presence in every coastal council, the AUAVS is encouraging SLS members to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:

• UAV Operators (non-RePL)
• UAV Pilots (RePL).
