No images? Click here This week, we have shown our collective strength Dear Member, Firstly, I hope you are managing to stay safe and well in these difficult times. Many of you will be working from home, so we have produced a new members' guide on working from home during this period. It's been a busy week here at Prospect – working to represent and help you. At the end of last week the government announced a package to financially support workers and business affected by coronavirus. Trade unions, including Prospect, were instrumental in getting this deal. You can read our latest information on this scheme here But, there was one group missing from last week's announcement: freelancers. Over the last seven days, we have brought together members – particularly in the creatives industries and our Bectu sector – to campaign for a fair deal for freelancers and self-employed workers. Last night, the chancellor announced that the government would help. This change in approach shows the strength that we have as a union, with the collective voice of our 145,000 members. Thousands of you wrote to your MP, urging them to back a better deal for freelancers, so thank you for your contribution - it made a massive difference. But we won't and can't stop here. Last night's announcement was still short in certain areas that will affect some of our members. We promise that we will not stop campaigning until we are sure nobody is left behind. Unions are proving our worth this week – showing we are part of the solution, not the problem. See our response to last night's announcement by the chancellor Thanks once again for your support this week - together we can achieve a fair deal for all.
