Dear Support Workers,

This email contains two important updates about (1) mandatory 30 min paid training and (2) the Deteriorating Client Procedure. Please read both carefully.

1. Mandatory Training

Please be advised that a new category called COVID-19 Training Resources, has been set up in all staff eLearning accounts (log in to Calvary eLearning platform – go to My Training).

All staff will have access to the Australian Government Department of Health COVID-19 Infection Control Module. This 30 min training session is mandatory and Support Workers will be paid for this time.

This module covers the fundamentals of Infection Prevention and Control for COVID-19 including:

  • What is it?
  • Signs and Symptoms
  • Keeping Safe – protecting yourself and others
  • Myth busting

2. Deteriorating Client Procedure

The Deteriorating Client Procedure and associated process flows have been
developed to:

  • clearly define the steps to be followed when a client becomes seriously unwell in an emergency situation; and
  • for the slower more progressive changes to a client's health and wellbeing related to aging or the disease process.

These processes will be available on Support Worker Connect please read them and apply them as required for client care.

Please note: COVID-19 cases should be reported as per the process that is currently in place.

The new document explains the process to manage clients who are unwell, deteriorating and/or experiencing a medical emergency.
