This time, the discussion will focus on Artificial Intelligence and examine the regulatory frameworks that surround it. We have speakers lined up from some of the world’s IT and communications giants and will have the industry and innovation viewpoint represented by speakers from the EU and other National Regulatory Authorities. If you missed any meetings last year, I’m delighted to tell you that the IIC’s 2017/2018 yearbook is now available for members. The book captures the discussions that took place last year and sets the scene for the meetings and debates planned for 2018. As you know, many IIC discussions are focused on the rapidity of technological change and how these developments impact the digital economy nationally and globally. One view of how individual organisations are working on these issues is presented by this edition’s Q&A respondent, Dr Ieva Martinkenaite, Vice President, Telenor Research, in charge of the Telenor-NTNU AI-Lab / Start IoT in Norway. Other areas of key interest to the regulators and policy makers who attend our meetings are the advancements being made to combat cyber-security threats, and what is being done to address concerns about data harvesting and privacy related matters ahead of the implementation of the GDPR in Europe. We’ve a rich programme planned for 2018, so as ever, check the events calendar for updates. We hope to see you at a meeting soon. IIC Yearbook 2017/2018
