Hazard Reduction Burn Program

Miami Bushland Reserve.

The properties marked in yellow identify the residents to be letter boxed dropped or door knocked prior to the burn proceeding.

At this stage depending on the weather conditions the Hazard Reduction Burn Program is scheduled to start in mid to late May and will potentially extend through until September 2020.

Due to the variability of weather conditions and vegetation types through these areas the timing of a burn at each location will depend on the prevailing weather conditions in the weeks/days leading up to the burn.

During the period of Covid 19 amendments have been made to the implementation of the Hazard Reduction Burn Program to ensure that there are strategies in place to mitigate the potential impact of smoke to residents.

This will currently include only completing burns in locations where the impact of smoke can be undertaken in a controlled manner.

Artbox Lamington Park, Mermaid Waters

The initiative was taken to utilise the Energex box in Lamington Park located on Barrier Reef Drive, Mermaid Waters.

The Artbox design features a link to the City's webpage http://cityofgoldcoast.com.au/lakehughmuntz

This link will provide up to date water quality information and City water quality improvement initiatives.

Artbox aims to deter graffiti vandalism with bright, artistic designs, which also improves the visual façade of our streets.

This is a creative way to involve the community and other organisations in improving the amenity of our city and deterring vandalism

🥰 How fantastic does this look!!!!!
