Lifesavers Respond to Multiple Incidents and Fatalities

Surf Life Saving volunteers have been called out to assist with a number of emergencies along the NSW coast in the last week. Thank you to the members who have assisted with these incidents and all those who have remained on call and rescue ready during the off season.

2021 Sharkskin NSW IRB Season Update

Due to the extended lockdown and ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the decision has been made to cancel the attempts to reschedule the final Premiership round. SLSNSW will channel efforts to deliver a sensational NSW Championships over 20 - 22 August at South West Rocks.

2021 NSW Pool Rescue Championships Update

Due to the extended lockdown and ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the decision has been made to postpone the NSW Pool Rescue Championships. SLSNSW will be closely monitoring the current health situation and also any National decisions regarding the National Championships dates in order to look to reschedule the NSW Championships. More information will be published on the event page once known.

Australian IRB Championships and Interstate Update

With recent COVID-19 outbreaks and lockdowns across several states, SLSA has made the decision to cancel the IRB Interstate Championships. The IRB Championships are scheduled to still go ahead but have been postponed to 9 - 12 September 2021. Updated information regarding the IRB Championships is now available to download from our website.

Call for Emergency Services Medal Nominations

SLSNSW is pleased to announce that suitably credentialed members are now eligible to be recognised for their outstanding contributions to frontline service, through a nomination for the Emergency Services Medal (ESM). 

Branches are requested to liaise with their respective Club Presidents to identify potential candidates and complete the online nomination form. This needs to remain confidential and as such, likely candidates are not to be informed of their nomination.

Obligations and Responsibilities of Charities to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC)

Circular 3678: Obligations and Responsibilities of Charities to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) is now available to download from the SLSNSW website.

This circular contains information that is essential for each branch and club to understand and action with respect to their Charity registration with the ACNC. Compliance with ACNC reporting and reporting timelines will now form a mandatory requirement of the annual SLSNSW compliancy program.

Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!

With over 330 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:

  • Lifeguard Supervisors
  • Seasonal Staff
  • Casual Staff.
