Virta Health Corp., a San Francisco-based startup focused on reversing Type 2 diabetes, scored $65 million in Series D financing, valuing the company at over $1.1 billion. Sequoia Capital Global Equities led the round, with Caffeinated Capital also participating.
Tallac Therapeutics Inc., a Burlingame, Calif.-based cancer treatment startup, launched with $62 million in Series A funding. The company’s investors include venBio Partners, Morningside Venture, Lightstone Ventures, Matrix Partners China and MRL Ventures Fund.
Noema Pharma AG, a Swiss startup targeting orphan neurological disorders, completed a 54 million Swiss franc ($59 million) Series A round. Sofinnova Partners and Polaris Partners co-led the investment, which saw additional participation from Gilde Healthcare, Invus and BioMed Partners. Darren Carroll of Polaris Partners and Arthur Franken of Gilde Healthcare joined the company’s board.
Genesis Therapeutics Inc., a Burlingame, Calif.-based drug discovery and development startup, closed a $52 million Series A round. Rock Springs Capital led the investment, which included participation from funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures and Radical Ventures. Kris Jenner, co-founder and managing partner of Rock Springs, joined the company’s board.
Biosight Ltd., an Israeli developer of therapies for hematological malignancies and disorders, added $27 million in Series C funding to close the round at $46 million. The round was led by Israel Biotech Fund, with additional support from Arkin Bio Ventures, Primera Capital, Phoenix Insurance Co., Migdal Insurance Co. and Biotel.
Proscia Inc., a Philadelphia-based cancer research and diagnosis software startup, raised $23 million in Series B financing. Scale Venture Partners led the round, with participation from Hitachi Ventures.
Kayentis, a French provider of digital data capture systems for clinical trials, secured €7 million ($8.3 million) in growth capital led by Extens and LBO France.
Wellory, a New York-based nutrition coach app, picked up a $4.2 million investment. Story Ventures led the round, which included contributions from Harlem Capital, Ground Up Ventures and others.
