SNO Research Event - November 22

Have you ever considered or thought about family practice research?  Ever had any medical questions that you are curious about?  If so, we would like to invite you to an exciting event here in the Shuswap North Okanagan.

Please join us for an evening of stimulating conversation and sharing of ideas with the aim of creating an appetite and enthusiasm for locally relevant research.

Dr. Brett Poulin and Dr. Stefan Grzybowski (Research Director with the UBC Department of Family Practice) are collaborating and will host the evening. Topics may include issues such as:

  • How to be involved in research as a practicing (ie. busy) family physician,
  • Your ideas and / or suggestions for locally relevant research questions in our area.

DATE:  22 November 2017
VENUE:  Vernon Prestige Hotel and Conference Centre
TIME:  6:00 pm

Sessional time will be paid and dinner will be served.

RSVP no later than 15 November to pcrough@divisionsbc.ca.

This is part of the SNO Division of Family Practice “Better Medicine” initiative (see http://bettermedicine.ca).

The goal is to create supports for family physicians in our area who want to help answer questions relevant to our patients in the Shuswap and North Okanagan. These questions will be locally relevant and may be large or small. Some will involve research projects, and some may be quality improvement projects, but they will all be relevant to physicians and patients in our area. If they will improve patient care, or quality of life for either you or your patients, we want to hear your ideas.

This is the first of two planned events. The Vernon Jubilee Hospital Physician Society is also hosting an event planned for January 31, 2018. All physicians with hospital privileges can attend under the physician society, and the SNO Division will support any interested physicians who do not have current hospital privileges. The event in January is more tuned to research that involves IHA staff or facilities, and will involve speakers from the IHA Ethics board and research department. Our event is more oriented toward family physicians, and how you can be involved in clinical research and quality improvement in or outside the hospital environment.

We look forward to seeing all interested physicians at both events.
