WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE CITYSchool Holiday ProgramActive Parramatta’s Summer School Holiday Program will feature over 50 activities for the whole family to enjoy like Dance, Soccer, AFL, Tennis and online Trivia. Registrations open at 9am on Monday 13 December 2021. Swimming CoursesDolphins Swim School Holiday Crash courses are great for fast tracking aquatic skills over 4-5 consecutive days. 2-Day Skill Buster courses are also running, which will focus on skills such as freestyle breathing and dives & turns. Have Your Say on Court OperationsCouncil is seeking community feedback on the enclosed courts at George Kendall Riverside Park and Dunrossil Park. Have your say before 5pm on Friday, 28 January 2022. Dundas Park Netball CourtWe would like to know what you would like to see included in the upcoming upgrade, how the community currently uses the court and how you would like Council to manage court access. Provide your feedback before 5pm on Thursday, 23 December 2021. Tennis Court UpgradesExciting new upgrades have been completed including LED lighting to Binalong Park in Toongabbie. Caber Park in Winston Hills has had the common area refurbished, and 2 courts resurfaced, which was funded by the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program. New Year's Eve FireworksCelebrate New Year's Eve with a series of family-friendly fireworks, across 5 different locations in the City. Each location will have a selection of food trucks and live entertainment. Booking FacilitiesCouncil has launched a new online system, ‘Bookable’ which makes booking any community facility easier. Bookable allows anyone to make and manage bookings for community centres, halls, meeting rooms, parks, reserves and sportsgrounds in a few simple steps. Free Come & Try DaySportability Club will deliver sporting and wellbeing activities for people with a disability. This includes those aged 5-18 years of age with learning disabilities, physical and sensory impairments. The event is happening on Sunday, 19 December 2021. Living Well After Lockdown ToolkitWestern Sydney Local Health District is supporting residents to adjust to the "new normal". The toolkit features a range of practical wellbeing tips, which cover many topics like social connection, keeping active, staying COVID safe and more. COMMUNITY CENTRE SPOTLIGHTHarry Todd Band Hall: Jubilee Lane, ParramattaLocated within Jubilee Park and close to the Parramatta Interchange and Harris Park Train Station, the Harry Todd Band Hall is suitable for social functions including birthday parties, seminars, family functions and community events. RECIPE BOXLamington Protein BallsIngredients: 1/2 cup cashews - 1/2 cup desiccated coconut - 1/4 cup chocolate protein powder - 10 dates, pitted - 1 teaspoon vanilla - desiccated coconut for rolling Method: Pulse all ingredients using a blender until texture becomes a sticky paste. Scoop some mixture into your hands and roll into ball shapes. Roll each ball into the coconut and refrigerate until firm. Makes 10. Easy Mango Ice CreamIngredients: 3 cups fresh mango pieces - 1 can coconut milk - 1/4 cup honey Method: Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Transfer mixture into an air-tight container and freeze until firm. Remove from freezer 30 minutes before serving so it can soften. Tip: Stir your favourite add-ins through the mixture before freezing, such as toasted coconut, macadamia nuts or more mango pieces. Serves 8. GRANT PROGRAMSGrants for Participating in Sporting CompetitionsDid you know that you can receive financial assistance for competing in state, national or international sporting championships as competitors, coaches or officials? City of Parramatta's Representative Sports Grant provides up to $1000 for residents of the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). For those who don't live in the Parramatta LGA, Sport Australia's Local Sporting Champions provides up to $750 for participants aged 12-18. Sport & Recreation GrantUp to $2000 is available from City of Parramatta's Sport & Recreation Grants for projects that increase participation in local sport and recreation activities.
