Leading a Whole Education in Trusts: leaders tell us how the programme helped them If you are a leader in a trust and want to learn more about Leading a Whole Education in trusts (LAWET) you can now watch our virtual introduction. LAWET is not a CEO programme. It is designed so multiple leaders in a trust can engage together, and share the benefits. WE asked Dan Morrow (Woodland Academy Trust), Antonia Spinks (Pioneer Educational Trust) and Jon Culpin (Anglian Learning) to share their priorities, and how LAWET supported this work. Powerful teaching: strategies that research says make the biggest difference right away Ruth explores power, creativity and success in autumn 2020. She shares practical strategies for immediate adoption in the ‘classroom’ (real or virtual) reinforced by research. This masterclass covers concepts underpinning powerful teaching - retrieval practice, dual coding and curriculum sequencing - and is free to view. Mary Myatt joined us for the launch event to share inspiration and ideas on an ambitious, whole education curriculum. Words for all: In your words - launch featuring Mary Myatt Last week, Whole Education launched our ‘Words for all’ programme, co-constructed with leaders in Bolton over a multi-year pilot. This collaborative approach builds local expertise to close the vocabulary gap. “We like the idea that it should be built on something that we’re already doing successfully and not necessarily adding on a new initiative." “A really comprehensive start to the project; lovely balance between practical and factual and inspirational and motivational. Many thanks” Meet | More stand out practice from WE schools Leading a Whole Education primary: how schools are providing a whole education At the LAWEP launch, St John's Church of England Academy shared their LAWEP project, implementing a knowledge-rich, values-based curriculum. This has been added to the LAWEP spotlights page, meaning there are now 4 spotlights to download - also featuring: + Developing a curricular offer by empowering subject and senior leaders Values-led leadership, professional learning and HITs at Wilmslow High School "The leadership team and the way they work really stood out. As Ruth shared their approach to Powerful Teaching in our masterclass series, we are revisiting our Appreciative Inquiry visit to Wilmslow High School this month. Visitors 'were impressed with the school’s approach to professional learning – both their specific frameworks and the culture of constant development'.
